2027 Essay Contest: The Cross of Christ

We’re pleased to announce our 2027 Essay Contest! If you are a prospective or incoming student joining us on campus in the fall 2027 semester, you could win a full scholarship for your first year of on-campus tuition at Reformation Bible College.

In 1 Corinthians 2:2, the Apostle Paul writes, “For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” Though the message of the cross is often regarded as foolishness by the world, Scripture presents it as the wisdom and power of God for salvation.

In this year’s essay contest, prospective students are invited to interact with any theme related to this passage.

Examples of topics to consider:

• Why the cross stands at the center of the Christian faith
• The wisdom of God in the message of the cross
• The cross and the love of God
• The cross and Christian discipleship
• Why Jesus must be truly God and truly man to save sinners

Students should submit essays that:

• Are approximately 4,500 words in length, and
• Include careful biblical, historical, and theological reflection.

Submission details:

• Entries must be received by March 1, 2027.
• Submit your completed essay by emailing it to scholarship@reformationbiblecollege.org.
• The winner will receive a full scholarship for his or her first year of on-campus tuition.
• A completed admissions application and all supplemental materials must also be submitted to RBC by March 1, 2027.
• Only one essay submission is allowed per student

Important notes:

• The scholarship applies only to full-time, degree or certificate-seeking students enrolling on campus for the fall 2027 semester.
• The scholarship covers tuition only; housing costs are not included.
• Reformation Bible College reserves the right to publish the winning essay, in whole or in part, and it may not be published elsewhere without RBC’s written permission.
