The Doctrine of God

Course Description

The chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. It is not possible to glorify God or to enjoy God, however, if we do not know who God is. This course will examine God’s revelation of himself in order that our understanding of God might be more conformed to Scripture. The course will also examine the many false doctrines of God that have arisen throughout the church’s history as well as the church’s responses in order that we might be better able to discern truth from heretical error.

Letter from the instructor

Dear Student,

As a Christian, you are called to love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and your chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. If we are to love God, glorify God, and enjoy God, we must know God. How many of us, however, have only vague notions of who God is? Furthermore, how are we to guard against false, idolatrous concepts of God if we do not know the true biblical doctrine of God? I hope you will join me as we carefully examine the biblical doctrine of God in order that our theology might result in God-honoring doxology.

In Christ, Dr. Mathison
