Introduction to Theology

Course Description

Dr. Sproul often said that everyone’s a theologian. The question is whether we are good theologians or bad theologians. We cannot be good theologians unless we know what good theology is. This course examines the nature, method, and sources of theology. It also examines God’s general and special revelation, including the inspiration and authority of Holy Scripture. In doing so, we discover the way in which Scripture grounds our doctrine and that doctrine informs our reading of Scripture.

Letter from the instructor

Dear Student,

Greetings from Reformation Bible College. I am encouraged by your interest in studying the nature, method, and sources of Reformed theology. For a Christian, theology is not an option, but there are pitfalls that we must strive to avoid as we grow in our knowledge. We will discover, for example, that theology is much more than an intellectual grasp of doctrines about God. It is knowledge of God that is inseparable from love for God. We will discover that all true theology ends in doxology. It ends in worship. I hope you will join us as we explore the riches of the knowledge of God.

In Christ, Dr. Mathison
