Why I Chose RBC: Providential Preparation
Posted On March 04, 2026
Malakai Pops is a Biblical Studies major pursuing his B.A. in Theology at RBC. We recently asked him about his experience at Reformation Bible College.
Malakai Pops’ journey to RBC began when his pastor at his church in Winnipeg recognized a gift for teaching in Malakai and encouraged him to consider pastoral ministry. Malakai concluded that if it was God’s will for him to pursue ministry, he would first need training. So, he sought his pastor’s advice about where he could receive a biblical education.
“I asked my pastor, ‘If you could go to any Bible college, where would you go?’ He said, ‘Reformation Bible College.’ It was at that moment I knew that RBC is where God wanted me to be.”
Once Malakai was accepted into RBC, he wondered how he would make the transition from Canada to Central Florida and afford the cost of a theological education. As Malakai prayed and sought the counsel of his parents and spiritual mentors, he felt confident that the Lord was leading him to pursue pastoral training at RBC.
“I grew up in a military household, so I function best when given a direct objective. I was waiting for my orders and God provided.”
Assured of his decision, Malakai moved to Florida and enrolled at RBC, trusting that the Lord would provide. Looking back, Malakai says he’s amazed at how God worked everything out.
“Since then, God in His grace has provided everything for me to be here. I have no doubt this is where I am supposed to be.”
Malakai said that the college community is what has been most impactful on him so far. From the faculty members and college staff to the other students, he reflected that “they’re all amazing people with a genuine love for God in their hearts.”

As he considers his remaining time at Reformation Bible College, Malakai says that he’s “excited to learn and grow—and to be prepared for ministry.”
But above all else, Malakai hopes that his time at RBC will help instill “a further love, understanding, and admiration for God.”
