Why I Chose RBC: Formative Relationships
Posted On April 29, 2026
Kéren Vaz is a freshman at RBC pursuing her B.A. in Theology (Christian Thought) with a Minor in Classical Education. We recently asked her about her experience at Reformation Bible College.
Kéren’s introduction to Reformed theology ignited a desire to pursue a theological education—but not just any theological education.
As she learned more about Reformation Bible College, Kéren realized that RBC’s academic mission is defined by the Reformed classical tradition and its commitment to Scripture—a framework that aligned with her convictions.
“I chose RBC because, after coming to the Reformed faith, I wanted to study theology at a place that truly prioritizes Scripture and values the truth.”
For this reason, RBC’s convocation—an event that initiates the beginning of the academic year—was particularly memorable for Kéren. In Kéren’s words, “It set a serious tone for our studies and showed the importance of what we’re committing to at RBC.”
Kéren also emphasized the impact that the strength of RBC’s community had on her. From the beginning, she was drawn to the close mentoring relationships that form between RBC’s faculty and students.
“I was especially drawn to RBC’s vision of being intentionally small, with faculty who see their work as ministry and are deeply invested in their students.”
As the semester progressed, she also enjoyed exploring RBC’s student life beyond the classroom. House events in particular stood out to her as one of RBC’s most distinctive traditions.
“I’ve also really enjoyed the house events,” she shared.“That’s something completely new to me and not something you find at many colleges, which makes it even more memorable.”

Overall, Kéren found that some of her deepest relationships have formed while living in RBC’s residence hall. Beyond her time in class and at campus events, she expressed how profoundly her friendship with her roommates has impacted her daily life.
“The most memorable part of my time at RBC would probably be living with my roommates. Just getting to spend everyday life together—watching movies, cooking, having dinners, and sharing so many simple but meaningful moments—has been really special. Those times of laughter and connection are something I know I’ll always remember.”
For K éren, theological education is not an end in itself; it’s training for a life of faithful service to Christ and His church. With that in mind, her hopes for her time at RBC are twofold.
“I hope to grow in both my knowledge of the Scripture and in my walk with God. My goal is not just to learn theology in the classroom, but to let it shape my life so I can live faithfully and serve Christ and His church with a deeper love and commitment.”
