Why a Reformed Bible College at Ligonier?: To Uphold Our Doctrinal and Spiritual Commitments
Posted On May 14, 2010
When it comes to Christian education, Bible colleges have become fairly commonplace. Why, then, would Ligonier Academy sponsor its own Bible college? The reason is simple: Reformation Bible College will be committed to the doctrinal views and spiritual values distinctive to Ligonier Ministries.
Reformation Bible College is committed to the historic Reformed faith as expressed in the solas of the Reformation and in the consensus of the confessional standards: the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms, the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, the Canons of the Synod of Dordt and the London Baptist Confession. The institution’s doctrinal commitments also include endorsements of the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy and the Cambridge Declaration of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals. The student body of the College will represent a broad range of evangelical affiliations.
As a community of teachers and learners, we are committed to promoting moral and spiritual excellence by openly requiring and making every effort to show the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. Good teaching, study habits, and intellectual ability are one thing. What is truly indispensable for success at RBC, however, will be the sober-minded and joyful application of Christian graces to all teaching and learning.
We also are committed to pursue academic excellence. We do so by promoting a spirit of inquiry after the truth, by making every effort to sharpen students’ ability to distinguish between truth and error, by exhorting students to be faithful stewards of the abilities that God has given them, and by cultivating a spirit of accountability to the Lord our God.
Together, the RBC community seeks to maintain an environment conducive to individual and corporate growth in the knowledge of God.
