RBC Spotlight: Steven Seal, Resident Director

Posted On July 21, 2023

As one of RBC’s resident directors, Steven Seal serves the students living in our residence hall by maintaining a positive living environment and community. He leads the three resident assistants on his residence hall floor and coordinates a dorm Bible study for men on campus. He often meets with students to provide counsel and encouragement.

We recently sat down with Mr. Seal to ask him about his life, faith, and work at RBC.

Why do you enjoy working at RBC?

I enjoy working at RBC because of how much the school means to me. My years as an RBC student were the most influential years of my life, and I love being able to contribute to a positive experience for others.

What aspect of working with students do you find most rewarding?

What I enjoy the most is my one-on-one time with students. I love offering counsel and being able to encourage students amid whatever they are going through in order to help them get the most out of their RBC experience.

How would you describe the community at RBC?

As a professor of mine once said, RBC is a lot like summer camp. It is a group of people who are committed to growing and learning. We work hard, and we have a lot of fun in the process.

What advice would you give to incoming RBC students?

In order to succeed at RBC, you have to spend time on what matters. Invest in your studies and invest in the people around you, including building relationships with your professors.

How have you seen students mature in their walk with Christ while attending RBC?

I have seen students come to a deeper knowledge of the triune God, a deeper conviction of sin, and a deeper love for Christ.

When and how did you come to faith in Christ?

I can’t remember a time when I did not know Christ as my Lord. I was raised in a beautiful Christian family and attended the same church for almost my entire life. I am grateful for my family, my pastors, and my faithful mentors who have lovingly discipled me for as long as I can remember.

What’s your favorite book of the Bible or favorite author?

I find this question to be particularly difficult, yet the book of Colossians has been very impactful in my life, especially over the past two years.

Have you traveled overseas for missions? If so, where?

I was blessed to have served for six weeks in Zambia just this past summer. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to interact with the global church as well as teach at several schools during my time there.

What do you have a passion for?

I have a passion for proclaiming and teaching the Word of God. I love people, and I love sharing the Word with them.

What are your favorite hobbies or pastimes?

I love playing any type of sport, especially golf. I also love spending time with friends and eating a good meal.

What activities do you enjoy doing in Florida?

My favorite Florida activities are spending time at the pool or the local beaches.
