We are in a season of growth at RBC. Our new building is almost complete, and we now welcome three new faculty members: Professors Benjamin Shaw, Matthew Dudreck, and Anthony Salangsang.

“What a joy to see the faculty suite in our new building fill up with professors committed to the vision of Reformation Bible College,” said President Dr. Stephen Nichols. “Our faculty are stewards of a sacred trust, scholars and churchmen committed to educating and discipling our students in the Reformed tradition.”

Dr. Shaw, a pastor and dedicated churchman, brings decades of experience teaching college and seminary to his new role as professor of Old Testament at RBC. His many accomplishments include earning a degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, teaching at Duke University, and most recently serving as academic dean of Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He also has a connection to Ligonier’s roots, having been taught by Dr. John Gerstner, the same man who mentored our first president, Dr. R.C. Sproul. Dr. Shaw and his wife, Lynn, are eager to invest in the lives of our students:

“Since visiting the RBC campus in March, my wife and I are excited about the opportunities to teach and minister to college students. It is an unexpected pleasure to be able to make this move.”

Dr. Dudreck has spent the last ten years teaching at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, where he also earned his Ph.D. This fall, he will bring his experience and scholarship into the RBC classroom as associate professor of New Testament. Academic Dean and Professor of Theology Dr. John Tweeddale said, “The RBC community is going to love Dr. Dudreck. He is a godly man who has a passion for God’s Word and for teaching students how to interpret it. The hiring of a New Testament scholar of the caliber of Dr. Dudreck is a good day for RBC.” Dr. Dudreck said:

“I am thrilled to be joining the RBC faculty to help train a new generation of thoughtful, intelligent, articulate Christians for the sake of a new reformation. The knowledge of God is the foundation for every vocation to which Christians are called. Necessarily, this requires specialization in the Bible, God’s inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word.”

Professor Salangsang is RBC’s first alum to return as a full-time faculty member, serving as assistant professor of biblical and theological studies. While a student, he worked as a research assistant to Dr. Nichols. “I knew then that someday he would be back,” Dr. Nichols said. “It is a true joy to welcome him as a colleague on the faculty. He has been serving as an adjunct with us already and in that capacity has made a significant impact on students.” Reflecting on his time at RBC, Professor Salangsang said:

“I received theology for all avenues of life. It is with great joy and thanksgiving that I receive this calling to serve students through faithful scholarship, dedicated teaching, and invested mentorship at RBC where God’s Word is treasured.”

At RBC, we believe that theological education should include both rigorous academic study and caring discipleship. We are so grateful that the Lord has raised up these men to help fulfill that mission, and we eagerly look forward to seeing the impact they will have as they share their wisdom, pour into the lives of students, and train the next generation for faithful and fruitful service. Please join us in giving thanks and welcoming our new faculty to RBC.

Dr. Shaw begins his position as professor of Old Testament this fall and will be joining us full-time on January 1, 2020. Dr. Dudreck began as associate professor of New Testament on June 1, and Professor Salangsang as assistant professor of biblical and theological studies on May 1, both effective for the fall semester.
