Help Prepare the Next Generation of Christian Disciples

A letter from our vice president of academics, Dr. John Tweeddale

What is a Christian college for?

It is more than granting degrees and preparing students for a career. We are tasked with forming the next generation to know the truth, to embody Christlike virtue, and to serve the Lord faithfully in every area of life.

This vision of discipleship lies at the heart of Reformation Bible College.

When Dr. R.C. Sproul founded RBC fifteen years ago, he was following a pattern established by the Reformers. Our Protestant forefathers understood that shaping lives according to God’s Word requires more than the recovery of ideas. It also requires institutions committed to preserving, teaching, and propagating these truths.

In addition to churches, the Reformers established academies and publishing houses so that the Word of God might shape generations to come. With this historical pattern in view, Dr. Sproul founded an intentionally small college where students can receive rigorous classroom instruction and personal discipleship within an intimate Christian community.

By God’s grace, RBC’s mission remains unchanged. With the support of prayerful and generous friends like you, we seek to steward this mission faithfully in service to the church.

Since joining RBC more than a decade ago, I have watched the Lord strengthen this college in remarkable ways. We are no longer an up-and-coming institution. RBC is a mature residential college with a settled identity, a trusted theological curriculum, and growing opportunities for service. Most importantly, we see evidence of the Lord’s work as students leave RBC looking more like Jesus than when they began.

This past year, we celebrated 85 graduates across RBC’s degree and certificate programs. Graduating online students traveled from as far as Hawaii and Australia to participate in commencement. Their presence was a beautiful reminder that RBC’s reach extends far beyond Central Florida.

One recent graduate, Trevor, reflected on the way his time at RBC prepared him for his calling:

“These years at RBC have been a tremendous blessing. I was so encouraged by my fellow students, who have a deep desire to grow in their knowledge of the Lord. Additionally, our professors are exceptionally qualified and have a wealth of knowledge to share. But more importantly, they disciple the student body. My studies have been hard work, but that’s what I came for, that I may grow in my knowledge and service to Christ.”

Another graduate, Emily, shared:

“Not only did I learn so much about God, His Word, and His church during my time at RBC, but everything I learned has deepened my relationship with Him. I feel more prepared for whatever vocation the Lord calls me to after my time here. I better understand my faith now, and I am also better able to share God’s truth with others.”

We dearly love our graduates and rejoice that we can witness God’s gracious work in their lives.

Some of RBC’s graduates are entering seminary and pastoral ministry. Others are pursuing callings in missions, counseling, and classical education. Many are starting families and ministering in the home. Into each of these vocations and more, our graduates are going forward with minds sharpened and hands well-equipped to serve.

As we look to the coming academic year, the Lord is opening many opportunities to strengthen RBC’s future. Your thoughtful financial support can help further several initiatives:

• Pursuing accreditation through the Association of Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). Accreditation will provide meaningful accountability and institutional support while allowing RBC to maintain our curriculum and confessional commitments.

• Enhancing RBC’s online program. We seek to equip additional classrooms for course recording and to develop more flexible learning opportunities. These improvements will allow more students to benefit from an RBC education.

• Launching a second site for RBC Inside: Suwannee Correctional Facility in Florida. Building on the success of our first cohort in Alabama, this expansion will enable more incarcerated students to study God’s Word and serve in their correctional context.
