Join Us in Congratulating Assistant Professor Levi Berntson
Posted On August 25, 2023
We are delighted to announce that as of July 1, 2023, Rev. Levi Berntson has been promoted from instructor of theology to assistant professor of theology at Reformation Bible College. Rev. Berntson joined the faculty in 2022 and teaches a variety of biblical, theological, and language courses, including Hermeneutics, Old Testament Law, Latin, History of Christianity, and The Doctrine of Christ.
RBC’s president, Dr. Stephen Nichols, speaks highly of Rev. Berntson and his contributions to the RBC community. He recently stated, “Professor Berntson has proven himself to be an outstanding teacher, a productive scholar, and a committed churchman—all in his first year at RBC.”
Dr. John Tweeddale, our vice president of academics, echoes Dr. Nichols comments, saying, “Professor Berntson has an infectious love for Scripture, history, and theology, a remarkable grasp of ancient languages, and a knack for teaching and relating to his students. This promotion is well-deserved. I am grateful to God that he is part of the RBC faculty.”
When he is not teaching in the classroom, Professor Berntson is actively involved in theological scholarship and ministry in his local church. Several of his upcoming academic publications include an article on J. Gresham Machen in the Westminster Theological Journal, a chapter for a book on the Septuagint with IVP Academic, and a new translation of a work by Campegius Vitringa with Reformation Heritage Books.
After earning his M.A. and M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, Rev. Berntson began pursuing his Ph.D. He is currently a doctoral student at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. This past year, Rev. Berntson was ordained as a teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church in America. He and his family attend River Oaks Church (PCA) in Lake Mary, FL, where he regularly teaches and preaches.
Please join us in congratulating Professor Berntson, and join us in praying that the Lord would continue to use him to minister to the lives of our students, his family, and those in his local congregation.
