Announcing the Search for Our Next President: Reformation Bible College
Posted On June 30, 2026
Reformation Bible College has launched the search for its next president. A committee of the college’s board, established in coordination with Ligonier Ministries, will lead a prayerful and careful process to identify the leader who will guide the college into its next chapter.
As RBC enters its sixteenth year, the college continues to strengthen its academic offerings, expanding its ministry outreach and equipping students to serve Christ faithfully in every sphere of life. The college’s work continues uninterrupted under its current administration and faculty throughout the process.
Founded by Dr. R.C. Sproul in 2011, RBC exists to serve the church by educating students in the historic Christian faith, as affirmed in the Reformed confessions, so that they may know, serve, and worship God in all of life—what the college sums up in its motto, “Theology for Life.” The committee’s charge is to find a leader who will preserve and advance that founding vision with fidelity and stability.
At a time when many Christian institutions face pressure to compromise their convictions, RBC remains firmly committed to its founding mission. The board’s focus is to identify a leader of proven Christian character, theological conviction, and institutional vision who will help RBC build upon the foundation established by Dr. Sproul, while preparing the college for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
A Mission Built to Last
The presidential search begins from a position of strength. Throughout his career, Dr. Sproul dreamed of establishing a college where the system of theology found in Scripture and outlined in the Reformed confessions could be taught by a trusted faculty to the next generation.
The early Ligonier Valley Study Center laid the foundation as a place where students could receive discipleship from Dr. Sproul and other Reformed theologians. A trip to Geneva offered the final inspiration. Seeing John Calvin’s academy impressed upon Dr. Sproul the importance of theological higher education for sharpening minds, forming Christian character, and strengthening callings for the glory of God.
While Dr. Sproul’s vision continues to guide the institution, it is sustained by the faithful work of faculty, staff, students, supporters, and ministry partners who share a commitment to the historic Christian faith and the Reformed tradition.
With the continued support of Ligonier Ministries and under the capable leadership of its administration and faculty, RBC continues to thrive. The board expresses its confidence in Dr. John Tweeddale, vice president of academics, as well as in the faculty and staff who continue to teach, mentor, and disciple students with remarkable faithfulness.
Building for the Future
By design, RBC remains an intentionally small college, with focused class sizes that allow faculty to teach, know, and disciple students personally. This is not incidental but purposeful—a deliberate means of remaining faithful to the college’s mission, theological distinctives, and the kind of Christian formation Dr. Sproul envisioned.
The future of Reformation Bible College is bright. Tuition remains affordable for students and their families. Campus improvements continue. The college continues to make meaningful progress toward accreditation through the Association for Biblical Higher Education. Additionally, RBC is strengthening its curriculum, expanding its RBC Inside program serving those who are incarcerated, and deepening its impact throughout the church.
The recent appointment of Dr. Keith Mathison as the inaugural holder of the R.C. Sproul Chair of Theology represents another consequential investment in the college’s future and in the theological formation of the next generation.
The college also looks ahead with enthusiasm to deepen the relationships that sustain its mission. RBC is committed to expanding its base of support—enlisting faithful donors and friends whose generous partnership makes possible student scholarships and the expansion of its curriculum and programs. The next senior leader will help lead this effort in harmonious partnership with the many outreach efforts of Ligonier Ministries, through which RBC extends its service to churches around the world.
The Leader We Seek
The board’s goal is to identify a leader of proven Christian character, theological conviction, and institutional vision who will build upon the foundation established by Dr. Sproul while helping the college pursue new opportunities for growth and ministry.
The committee is seeking a president who demonstrates:
- A wholehearted embrace of the Reformed faith. An unreserved commitment to the historic Christian faith and to the confessional, Reformed theological consensus for which Ligonier Ministries is so well known.
- Christian character and churchmanship. A life above reproach, marked by humility and integrity, and active membership in good standing in a confessionally Reformed church.
- Love for the founding vision. A genuine love for the mission Dr. Sproul entrusted to the college, and the desire to see students formed in the knowledge of a holy God.
- A heart for students. A shepherd’s care for the formation of students in mind and character, befitting an intentionally small and devoted academic community.
- Wise institutional leadership. The judgment and stewardship to lead a healthy institution, strengthen a capable team, and represent the college faithfully to the church and the wider world.
A Future Worth Building
While honoring its rich history, Reformation Bible College is looking forward with confidence.
The board is excited about the opportunities ahead and remains committed to identifying a leader who will help advance the college’s mission for generations to come. Through faithful leadership, sound theology, academic excellence, and unwavering commitment to Christ and His church, RBC is well-positioned to continue serving students, families, pastors, congregations, and ministry leaders around the world.
