Abide: Humility and the People of God
Posted On September 29, 2016
Burk Parsons, copastor of Saint Andrew’s Chapel and editor of Tabletalk magazine, joined students from Reformation Bible College recently for the second gathering of the Abide student fellowship group this semester. Looking at Philippians 2:1–11, Pastor Burk focused not so much on the passage’s Christological implications as on Paul’s main thrust: the urgent need for humility in the people of God. The student of theology is in constant danger of losing a sense of perspective as the Word is opened daily, and Pastor Burk called on the students to remember the value of this too-often-forgotten virtue.
Abide provides RBC students with a chance to recharge and enjoy fellowship in the midst of the rigors of studying. Pastor Burk’s charge to exposit the Word in truth and charity was a welcome reminder of the great and humbling call on students’ lives.
