Abide: Nichols on Psalm 107:8
Posted On September 02, 2016
Reformation Bible College (RBC) students recently heard from RBC President Dr. Stephen J. Nichols at Abide. Dr. Nichols shared with us that early in his college career, he had considered pursuing accounting, apologetics, or philosophy. While these pursuits would have seemingly led him in mutually exclusive directions, God wove these interests together and led him to eventually pursue a doctorate in church history.
Dr. Nichols encouraged us that while we may not always understand what God is doing, we have a sure hope in the faithfulness of our God. He reminded us that this is not a prosperity gospel; it is His promise. He challenged us to depend on God’s faithfulness, noting that God has been faithful to His people throughout history–to Israel, to His church, and to us individually. Dr. Nichols encouraged us with Psalm 107:8: “Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!” He concluded his message by challenging us to remember who God is when we are fearful and to thank Him for His faithfulness in the past, present, and future.
Abide is a twice-monthly student fellowship meeting held to encourage and challenge students. This overview was written by Savannah Brenyo. Savannah is our lead admissions representative and will graduate from RBC in the spring of 2017.
